Philadelphia, Pennsylvania — The African American Male Wellness Agency (AAMWA) is bringing together culture, conversation, entertainment, and community impact for a powerful weekend of health and wellness featuring NBA champion Dwight Howard and platinum-selling rapper Fabolous.

The weekend will spotlight two signature events focused on improving the health, wellness, and life expectancy of Black men and their families. On Thursday, June 4, the health and wellness organization will host the Real Men Real Talk Summit at the Community College of Philadelphia from 5 p.m. to 9 a.m.

Dwight Howard speaks on the importance of attending Black Men’s Wellness Day 2026

“I’m excited to partner with the African American Male Wellness Agency for the Real Men Real Talk Summit in Philadelphia,” said Dwight Howard. “Real Men Real Talk is a chance for me to pour into others while continuing my own personal journey of growth, healing, and reflection. I’m honored to be part of a mission dedicated to helping Black men live longer, healthier, and more fulfilled lives.”

The weekend of wellness will continue at Temple University on Saturday, June 6 from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. with Black Men’s Wellness Day, one of the region’s largest community wellness events, anchored by AAMWA’s national call to action, “Get Checked Out, Not Checked In.”

As part of the celebration, Fabolous will perform during Black Men’s Wellness Day, bringing energy and awareness to the importance of health and wellness in Black communities.

“I’m honored to be a part of the African American Male Wellness Agency’s mission to help increase the life expectancy of Black men and their families,” said Fabolous. “In the music industry, the grind never really stops, and too often we push through health issues without slowing down to take care of ourselves. Events like Black Men’s Wellness Day are important because they remind us that success means nothing if we’re not healthy enough to enjoy it.”

In addition, Senator Sharif Street will serve as the honorary chair for Black Men’s Wellness Day.

The Real Men Real Talk Summit will feature candid discussions surrounding mental health, accountability, healing, leadership, fatherhood, relationships, and personal growth. While Black Men’s Wellness Day will feature free health screenings, a 5K walk and run, family-friendly activities, live entertainment, and community outreach initiatives designed to encourage preventive care and healthier lifestyles.

AAMWA Philadelphia leaders say the weekend represents a broader movement focused on normalizing conversations around wellness while creating direct pathways to healthier living.

“This weekend is about more than events. It’s about saving lives, changing mindsets, and creating a culture where Black men feel empowered to prioritize both their physical and mental health,” said Dymiere Finch, executive director of AAMWA Philadelphia. “By bringing together influential voices, community resources, entertainment, and wellness programming, we’re creating experiences that inspire action and lasting impact.”

In 2025 alone, AAMWA’s national initiatives engaged more than 100,000 individuals nationwide through wellness programming, health screenings, and community outreach efforts. Organizers expect thousands of attendees throughout the weekend as community members, families, students, professionals, and leaders come together in support of healthier futures for Black men and their families.

The weekend of health & wellness reflects AAMWA’s continued commitment to advancing prevention, education, mental wellness, and community empowerment through culturally relevant and impactful programming.
