Thousands Expected at Black Men’s Wellness Day in Columbus as Fabolous and Jonathan Majors Join Celebration of Health and Wellness
African American Male Wellness Agency host annual event at a new location, providing free health screenings, 5K walk and run, family activities and appearances by platinum-selling rapper Fabolous and award-winning actor Jonathan Majors
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Thousands of community members are expected to gather for Black Men’s Wellness Day, hosted by the African American Male Wellness Agency, on Saturday, August 8 from 7 a.m. to noon at a new location – Long Street and Jefferson Ave – as the organization continues to improve health outcomes for Black men and their families across Central Ohio.
“Tens of thousands of people have trusted Black Men’s Wellness Day as a place to take control of their health,” said Kenny R. Hampton, president of the African American Male Wellness Agency. “For some, this event maybe their annual checkup, a chance to get screened, get informed and take action. That’s why our message remains, ‘Get Checked Out, Not Checked In.'”

Black Men’s Wellness Day is one of Central Ohio’s largest community health events dedicated to advancing preventive care and increasing life expectancy. The event offers free health screenings, a 5K walk and run, wellness resources, access to immediate care, family-friendly activities, live entertainment and opportunities to connect with healthcare providers.
AAMWA will feature a special performance by platinum-selling rapper Fabolous, who joined the health & wellness organization for Black Men’s Wellness Day in Philadelphia in June.
“I’m honored to be a part of the African American Male Wellness Agency’s mission to help increase the life expectancy of Black men and their families,” said Fabolous.
Award-winning actor Jonathan Majors will also participate in Black Men’s Wellness Day, continuing his family’s support of the African American Male Wellness Agency. Earlier this year, his wife, Meagan Good, participated in Uplift Her – Wellness Experience, AAMWA’s women’s health and wellness initiative. While her participation was centered on empowering women, she also shared a heartfelt message encouraging Black men to prioritize their health.
“We need you,” Good said. “We need you operating at your highest potential so that you can go, have and be every single thing God has created you to be.
Majors’ participation at Black Men’s Wellness Day builds on that message, highlighting the importance of preventive care and supporting healthier futures for Black men and their families.
Last year, Black Men’s Wellness Day in Columbus welcomed more than 45,000 participants and provided over 6,500 screenings. The event is sponsored by Franklin County Board of Commissioners, Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority, Abbott, Abbvie, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, The James Cancer Center, Academy for Urban Scholars, CareSource, and others.
