The actress and wellness advocate will join Uplift Her Women’s Wellness Day as the initiative continues addressing critical health disparities affecting women of color.
Actress, author, and wellness advocate Meagan Good will join women from across the Midwest at Uplift Her, Women’s Wellness Day on Wednesday, June 24 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., bringing a message of healing, self-care, and empowerment to an initiative designed to improve the health outcomes of women of color. The event will conclude with a performance from R&B artist Raheem DeVaughn, sponsored by Aflac.
Uplift Her, the women’s wellness initiative of the African American Male Wellness Agency (AAMWA), was created in response to alarming health disparities affecting women. Women of color are three times more likely to die from breast cancer, four times more likely to die from heart disease, and four times more likely to experience maternal-related complications.
For Dr. Pamela Gregory, co-founder of the National Center for Urban Solutions, the parent company of AAMWA, and founder of Uplift Her, those statistics demanded action.

Dr. Pamela Gregory speaks at the 2025 Uplift Her Wellness Experience.
“While women have stood beside the African American Male Wellness Agency for more than two decades in our mission to improve the health of Black men, we recognized that women, especially women of color, face significant health challenges of their own,” said Dr. Gregory. “Uplift Her was created to ensure women have access to the screenings, resources, education, and support they need to live longer, healthier lives. When women are healthy, families are healthier and communities are stronger.”
Since its launch, Uplift Her has impacted nearly 20,000 women, provided more than 11,000 health screenings, and reached more than 120 million people through outreach and education.
The reach and impact of AAMWA have attracted national attention, drawing participation from celebrities who have supported the organization’s initiatives including Uplift Her, Black Men’s Wellness Day, and Real Men Real Talk.
For Good, the decision to participate was immediate.
“I automatically said yes because of the name of the event, Uplift Her,” she said.

A snapshot of the statistics from the 2025 Uplift Her Wellness Experience.
According to the 2025 Uplift Her Impact Report, more than 7,000 women attended last year’s event. AAMWA screened nearly 600 women, and more than 4,500 health and individual biometric screenings were administered. Among those screened, 58 percent were found to have high blood pressure requiring medical attention and lifestyle changes, while 51 percent were experiencing a hypertensive crisis. Additionally, 11 percent of women who received cholesterol screenings recorded levels considered dangerously high.
“It’s so important to have initiatives like this [Uplift Her] where you’re connected with people who understand your specific experience, even if you’re worlds apart.”
Good hopes attendees leave the event feeling encouraged and empowered.
“I hope people walk away feeling seen, empowered, and loved,” Good said. “I pray that I am able to pour into other women the way that some have poured into me.”
Uplift Her Women’s Wellness Day will provide attendees with free health screenings, access to health and wellness resources, and opportunities to connect with community organizations and vendors committed to supporting women’s well-being. In addition, Good will be part of the event’s fireside chat, featuring Dr. Gregory and Kimberly Jackson, executive vice president, southeast region, for the American Cancer Society. Kimberly Blackwell, CEO of PMM Agency will serve as the moderator.
