COLUMBUS, OHIO (November 2021) – The National Center for Urban Solutions, African American Wellness Agency presents Cooking With Dads a fatherhood initiative on Thursday, November 18 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. This will be a fun, interactive, healthy experience for children 3 years and older. Fathers, uncles, father figures are invited to come out to this free event with their children to learn about healthy cooking and eating. This event is sponsored by Franklin County Board of Commissioners, Franklin County Job and Family Services, Franklin County Fatherhood Coalition, Cover My Meds, Meijer, Hello Fresh, Academy of Urban Scholars, Abbott, National Church Residences, WCMH NBC4, and Central Ohio Primary Care Senior Care Direct.
The mission of Cooking With Dads is to promote health and wellness amongst children and to improve the relationships between fathers and children, Cooking With Dads serves men and children ages 3 and up bringing together hundreds of influential and community dads all over the
city for an educational and fun experience. Dads and their children are able to participate in interactive healthy cooking demonstrations with local and national celebrity chefs, receive a swag bag filled with goodies, and participate in wellness exercises.
Established in 2004, the mission of the African American Wellness Agency (AAWA) is to increase the life expectancy of African American men in physical health, mental health, financial health, fatherhood and research. We have embraced an expanded focus into six core initiatives that also include mentorship and research that develop men into great fathers and remove barriers that may hinder their participation in the lives of their children. We are “The Holistic Black Impact of Health and Wellness for African American Men and their families”.
