AAMWA, Lifeline of Ohio Unite to Tackle Health Partiality in Black Communities

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The African American Male Wellness Agency (AAMWA) has joined forces with Lifeline of Ohio in a bold initiative to confront longstanding health disparities in organ, tissue and transplant access within Black communities. The partnership aims to bring lifesaving awareness and action to an issue that disproportionately impacts Black Americans, particularly in Franklin County. Together, AAMWA and Lifeline of Ohio are launching a grassroots campaign focused on four key pillars: –

  • Increasing donor registration among Black residents through outreach at ‘AAMWA’ signature year-round events.
  •  Educating the community about the systemic inequities surrounding organ and tissue donation.
  • Expanding access to culturally relevant resources that emphasize the life-changing benefits of transplantation.
  • Enhancing community data by creating and distributing a tailored donor registration questionnaire to better inform future efforts.

“This partnership goes beyond donor forms – it embodies fairness, hope, and healing,” stated London Calhoun, The AAMWA Senior program manager. “Together, we’re empowering our communities with knowledge and access, while honoring the legacy of those who give the gift of life.”
