The National Center for Urban Solutions:  African American Wellness Agency presents the 3rd annual Financial Wellness Summit: Legacy. This will be a financially empowering networking event centered around Starting, Saving, and Securing a financial legacy. The goal of the event is to provide financial wellness education in a comfortable and entertaining environment. This reception will feature a DJ, free food and spirits, a “Buy Black” retail area to engage and purchase from Black-owned businesses, games, prizes, and more. Guests will leave the event knowing how to build generational wealth for your future and also able to receive a free financial wellness screening to allow them access to important information regarding their financial status. Featuring a keynote speaker, LaRese Purnell, founder of Black Box Fix, The Real Black Friday, and financial executive at CLE Consulting Firm. LaRese will be sharing his extensive financial expertise as well as interviewing our expert panel. This panel will consist of representatives from AARP, Ohio Housing Finance Agency (OHFA), PNC Banking, and Wright Patt. They will cover topics including credit and debt, home ownership, loan acquisition, money management, and more. Masks and social distancing will be required. Speaker Bio: LaRese Purnell

LaRese Purnell holds over 18 years of experience in business management, tax, and finance. He is one of the founders and Managing Partner of the CLE Consulting Firm an Accounting, Tax and Payroll company located in downtown Cleveland, Ohio. He is a strong, innovative, financial and strategic leader with both instincts and intellect, a formidable combination in the business world. He has served in executive positions, leading business and financial departments within multi-million dollar for profit and non-profit corporations.

LaRese received his MBA in Finance from the University of Toledo. He is currently pursuing his Masters in Accountancy in Corporate Taxation from John Carroll University, with an expected completion date of August 2022. He is currently apart of Leadership Cleveland’s class of 2022. LaRese’s commitment to the community and its residents of Cleveland is what he is passionate about. He serves on several board governances including the Board of Directors for the YMCA of Greater Cleveland as the 2nd VP, The Cleveland Clinic South Pointe Hospital, Secretary of Cleveland Public Library Foundation, Treasurer of the NAACP Cleveland Branch, USS Cleveland Legacy Foundation, and the Treasurer for Step Forward Today formerly (CEOGC).

He is the author of Financial Foundations, Building Financial Freedom One Tool at a Time, where he uses everyday language to address the most fundamental questions people have about money. He has traveled to over 40 U.S. cities teaching financial literacy at various conventions, seminars, colleges and universities and various other events. He also created an organization called, “The Real Black Friday”, where its purpose has been to bring awareness to, create educational and collaborative opportunities for hundreds of small black owned businesses. He has been featured in various local and national publications and has appeared on multiple radio and television programs discussing various financial matters. He has received various awards including the Smart 50 Business award, Crain’s Business 40 under 40, and Cleveland Magazine’s Most Interesting People. Outside of work, LaRese stays busy spending time with his beautiful wife Rashaunda, his children Gaven and Gabbi, playing sports and traveling.
